Though their time in Paris was brief, circumstances and fate made sure that they were brought together again. Brianne's stepfather, who also happened to be a great enemy of Pierce, wants to marry her off to a questionable business associate with a mysterious past and present. Pierce, never forgetting the girl that gave him a little comfort in Paris, comes to Brianne's rescue and marries her instead.
