SHADOWS ARE DEADLY, a mystery in the truest sense of the word, shows how the shadows of the past can darken the door of the present, somtimes with deadly results. Kelly McWinter goes from a big city detective to flea market security guard because of a shadow in his past. Over the course of living 5 years in the Indian Creek area, he notices that most residents have something to hide. For one woman, though, the SHADOWS ARE DEADLY.

McWinter finds Anna dead in her flea market stall one night after closing time. In trying to piece together events that lead up to her death, McWinter finds that she'd been angry with everyone that night. Through her mastery of dialog, Ms. Morris blazes a trail of mystery that leads you through a maze of guilt, greed, and grit. The trail introduces you to an array of characters, some loveable, some not so loveable. And when McWinter figures out who killed Anna, the suspense is incredible as he races across Texas and back again to stop more killings. You'll be wishing your reading speed would reach Mach One. Although, Ms. Morris is Canadian, her love of Texas weaves a rich sense of culture and heralds the place in her heart. The second of the Indian Creek series, "Mikki's Song", comes out later this month. (September) But for Morris fans, that's too long to wait.
