Adrienne Pierce has grown up in the small town of Trickle Creek, Texas, training horses for Elizabeth Devlin, a wealthy eccentric. Elizabeth's grandson, Nowell, assaulted Adrienne a few years ago, and left town to avoid punishment. Nowell is returning to Trickle Creek, and Adrienne has to make a decision. The morning of Nowell's return, his grandmother dies mysteriously, and Adrienne becomes the prime suspect.
