In a city called the Desert, Pol gained knowledge and strength from an old sorcerer named Rosseyn. Pol, his mother Sioned and other great sorcerers from the Desert team up together to make one last stand against the Vellant'im. The group creates a large wall that will protect the city against the invaders.
Meanwhile in Firon, Aldiar helped Idalian, Tirel, and Prince Laric's entourage escape from a blizzard. They begin to journey to Balarat to reclaim Laric's princedom.
At the Desert, Sioned plans to poison the Vellant'im priests. After she poisons the priests, she is taken captive by the Vellant'ims. Pol must save Sioned and a battle ensues.
A final battle occurs between Pol's army and the Vellant'ims in which the winner is decided, and the other must leave the Continent.
Best part of story, including ending:
The thing I liked about this story was that all the sorcerers came together to fight the Vellant'im. Most of the sorcerers were rivals and enemies of one another but they put that aside to fight the Vellant'im.
Best scene in story:
The best part was when Sioned poisons the priests. This was a great scene because it set up the final battle with the Vellant'im.
Opinion about the main character:
What I liked most about Pol was that he brought everyone together. He was a good leader of the army of resistance.
