In a small town full of sexist men, women are trying to prove themselves by building homes (without the help of men) for single mothers and other women in need. When a man know for his sexual promiscuity is found dead, and a girl is suspected of being raped, Judge Deborah Kezzie finds these atrocities are rather close to home: the girl is her niece Annie Sue, and the man is the married lover of Annie Sue's best friend.
