This is book 2 in the Eve Dallas, Face of Deception Series. Joe finds a skull that could be Bonnie. Eve rushes from Logan's side to reconstruct the facial features. The Skull is stolen by someone who claims he killed Eve's daughter, Bonnie. He says he will kill another little girl like Bonnie. Eve and Joe find the little girl in a foster home in the south. Eve kidnaps her without Joe's knowledge to protect her. The killer says he will kill the little girl if Eve doesn't keep her with her while she searches for clues which killer gives her. The killer wants Eve to bond with the girl so when he kills her, she will hurt as she did when Bonnie died. Joe angrily searches for Eve and, when he finds her in Arizona, lets her know he wants more than her friendship. They search for a previous victim of the killer with the help of a search and rescue dog and his handler. They must find the identity of the killer, who stalks their every move, before he kills the girl and Eve.
