Riley posts on 4/4/2006 7:09:44 PM Hi all- I have a quick question about a small bit in the 2nd Outlander novel that we haven't been able to figure out. When Jamie is in prison for dueling Jonathon Randall, Claire goes to petition King Louis for his release. He takes her through a secret door into a chamber where hooded figures and K.L. are trying the Comte de Germain and Master Raymond for witchery or something. Claire as La Dame Blanche has to decide innocence of the two. Raymond gives her a concoction to drink, proving her honesty, and then he drinks some. Claire passes it to the Comte and "he knows his death is certain" although she hasn't seen Raymond add poison. The Comte certainly does die--but of what? Anybody catch the subtleties of this one? Thanks.
C.F posts on 3/23/2006 11:21:56 AM The first time because Jack had come to Lallybrock (spelling?) and had ransacked the house and tried to molest Jenny.Jamie tried to fight them off and got arrested by Jon and was taken to the prision where he was whipped, then the second set of whipping would of been stopped had Jamie accepted Jonathans offer of giving up his body to him. Jamie didn't. Then he escaped.

Louise posts on 3/22/2006 9:50:35 PM Although I have read all 6 books of Diana Gabaldon's Outander series, I am having trouble remembering when and why Jamie Fraser was whipped the first time by Jack Randall.

Karen posts on 3/13/2006 6:41:21 AM Brenda, I too have read Sarah Donati books and find them very enthralling the one I remember that Claire is in I think is called Into the Wilderness. As with Diana Gabaldon Outlander series I found it very hard to put the book down.
mercedes posts on 3/6/2006 7:52:30 AM To Rachel, the ghost appears in the first book and then is mentioned by jaime in the last bk, snow and ashes. the title you have is extinct, it was a working title for snow & ashes. the next bk the 7th, the last i heard had not been started, but is coming.
Brenda Maddron posts on 3/5/2006 6:00:51 PM Ken, or anyone, what is the name of Saras book that Claire is in, I would like to read it too. Thanks.
ken wagner posts on 3/5/2006 1:47:14 PM I wasn't trying to condemn anyone for their opinion or lack thereof. I was simply confounded. For me To think that anyone, having immersed themselves into any one of Diana's novels, was not fully satasfied from start to finish, was more or less an improbability. I am sorry if I have offended anyone, as it was not my intention. Nor did I intend to come off as a world class writer, as I am obliged to report myself as being mediocre at best. On a different note, I have also looked into sara doneti's work, hearing that their styles are similar, and have found an online interview where she writes of her and Diana as "being friends". She goes on to describe the addition of Claire into one of her books. (I have not read one, although I plan to now) It seems she jokingly asked Diana if she could borrow claire, as she needed a good physician, and was given permission by Diana without reservation. Sara also stated that it was a one time entry, and would probably not happen again. I believe she said the scene was on a battle field, and claire was treating one of sara's characters.
Angela posts on 3/4/2006 3:41:06 AM Ken, this is a discussion forum. nobody on here is world class writer except maybe yourself. But as I'm sure you know a forum is for feedback and discussion regardless of the opinion. You cannot condemn someones opinion because it doesn't agree with your own!! We are not comdemning A Breath of Snow and Ashes, but just expressing our feelings on the book.
