Joyce Reardon Message Board

Pamela posts on 12/29/2005 5:06:53 PM Pu-leeze! The movie was written by Stephen King, and the book came out to promote the film. Joyce Reardon is a fictional professor at a fictional university and Rose Red is a fictional house (although the mini-series was filmed in a real house). It was a great film and an extremely engaging read, but let's get a life here! It's called FICTION!

Brenda posts on 12/1/2005 9:15:50 AM After reading the book one can figure it out. It has Mr.King theme wrote all over it. The reason why he did it was for creative freedom. When someone get stuck in a theme can not break out for fear he may lose some of his auidence.Mr.King has really expanded the Horror theme.Like all authors some are good and not so good. He hit all of the goals for a good fiction. It a good example to show how the lines of ficiton and nonfiction are blurring together. Maybe it a sign for people to read more to explore authors and the themes they use to write. I am not a fan of Mr. King this book did get my attention. Since I took a writeing class to explore authors and their themes it has shown me to read more.

Halley posts on 11/29/2005 2:51:07 PM I was searching online and found (after I read the diary) that Stephen King has confessed that it was all a hoax. He made it for Spilbergh and needed to make it sound true. It was all based on the "Winchester Mystery House" which IS TRUE! You can go visit it in San Jose California for yourself, and you will be very disappointed to know that Stephen King used a pen name to write "The Diary Of Ellen Rimbauer, My Life At Rose Red". I"m 12 years old and very interested in this type of stuff, I was very disappointed to find out that one of my favorite authors had pulled this hoax. ----Halley
Brenda posts on 11/24/2005 9:13:21 PM The goal of an author is to get people to think about the subject and ask quetions. It up to the reader to search for the clues. It the reader responablity to search and seek out the answers. Do to all the web sites and people posting messages it worked. The over all feel of the book was brillant. It meet the goal of fiction it was beliveable. Does it really matter if all of it or part of it is not true. The honset truth is that evil has existed in all society's. We have enough knowledge to justy this almost for a fact. This book shows it up to the person in how we deal with these issues. This book should serve as a lessons. That we need to research our facts before accepting a book as truth in any subject. Our freedom is choice no one can believe or not believe for a person. It up to the person to filter what he or she beliefs. Beliefs are very powerful it what we tell ourselves daily. Book get us as a society to look at those in a safe way. It our choice to choose wisely. There are some things that can not be explain. For example my life has had many close calls. Knocking at heaven gate. Is this fact or fiction. For a beliver of God it true. For a non beliver it false. Truth is in the eye of the beholder.
