Megan Whalen Turner Message Board

FireBird posts on 7/4/2007 3:56:45 PM Sometimes I just want to kick the wall. Anyone else feel this way? Why can't there be more excellent writers out there publishing good books like Megan Whalen Turner? And why can't she write faster? Hellooo? I'm waiting! (argh argh argh argh) If anyone has a facebook account, we have a MWT fan group on there: Eugenides stole my heart. Wanna write to MWT? meganwhalenturner @harpercollins .com I got that from her site. YES, it does work. NO, I haven't had the guts to write to her yet.

posts on 6/13/2006 5:37:28 PM Shameless community promotion again I'd afraid, (sorry!) but lunasol, if you're interested, we have a fangroup for Megan Whalen Turner over at lievjournal (do a search using the keyword 'sounis') which is very active, with a chatroom and regular threads. As for neglecting their children - I agree Victoria - they wouldn't, if only because their kids will be their heirs. Gen certainly, will have brought up in a close family setting, though how much that'll carry over I don't know. Irene on the other hand, has no example from which to work from other than the opposite of her upbringing. I don't think their kids will ever be a big focus of the books though. I could be wrong.

posts on 6/13/2006 4:46:46 PM Ok, what I want to know is, WHY isn't Turner more popular? I just found this siite b/c I was messing around on the searh engine, and let me tell you there is almost nothing there! I'm so glad to have finally found people who have read the books. None of my friends have read them and was thinking about just asking someone I met on the street, just so I could talk to somone!thank you for existing!
posts on 6/11/2006 10:47:23 PM I should read Howl... I am ashamed to say that I have neither seen the Miyazaki film, read the book(s) or anything. And neglect their children? Can't see it... Gen doesn't even neglect the traitors.
posts on 6/11/2006 10:47:00 PM Ya, he's probably say: "You know, everybody says how cute babies look, but what we're all really thinking is how much like shrivled up raisins/olives they look like."
posts on 6/11/2006 5:17:47 PM True, but at the same time, there is that tradition of a couple very much in love neglecting their children for each other. Though I doubt that'll be the case with Gen and Irene. No, I doubt being a father will change Gen very much. In that respect, I think he'll be a bit like Howl from 'Castle in the Air' and say something like 'my word, he is ugly...chip off the old block.' when he sees his son (or daughter). :D
posts on 5/31/2006 9:12:13 PM Too much. The way he talks about Irene, how she is too precious to give up, think about how he'll act to his son or daughter? Plus, I loved how he freaked out when Irene fainted.
posts on 5/29/2006 6:29:16 AM I'm not sure Gen would be a good father. :) I think he might dote a bit too much. Or a bit too little.
posts on 5/26/2006 7:09:52 PM Another book! I think you killed me a little inside. In a good way. Must find out if Gen and Irene have a child. Gen would be the coolest father...
