A group of college students reconnect with their German ancestry through a beer drinking contest. The theme of Beerfest is quite obvious from its title. The story begins with the two brothers Jan and Todd Wolfhouse. They're in college and love drinking and drinking games more than anything. When their grandfather Johann dies, they are sent to Germany to scatter his ashes. Once there, they come upon a beer festival and a secret related tournament where national teams compete at various drinking related activities. Unsurprisingly, it's dubbed Beerfest.

Jan and Todd test themselves but they are no match to the more organized teams, with the Germans being the winners. The guys return to the States and recruit some friends so that they can return for next year's Beerfest. These are Landfill, Fink, and Barry, each with their own unique beer related expertise. They also discover an old beer recipe from their grandfather, and use it to brew the best beer ever.
Despite the German team's sabotage attempts, the Americans make it to the festival. They initially lose the final match to their rivals, but a rematch with the special beer recipe at stake gives them another chance. In the end it's terribly close, but they come out victorious.
Best part of story, including ending:
The film is totally ridiculous, but there are some funny touches such as the master's drinking challenge "Das Boot", or Landfill's twin brother.
Best scene in story:
The scene where Barry gets incredibly drunk at the bar, and we see what happens next both from his point of view and what really happens. As they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beer holder.
Opinion about the main character:
The funniest characters are the supporting ones really. Jan and Todd are lucky to have such an interesting family tradition, and credit to them for living up to it.
