This is the story of an underground newspaper (think of Rolling Stone in its early days) on the brink of closing. The staff, mostly 20-something idealists, do what they can to keep the paper going, in between having arguments, bedding one another, and trying to outdo each other with a big scoop.

The ensemble cast is noteworthy, including Joe Morton, Stephen Collins, a pre-L.A. Law Jill Eikenberry, and pre-Godfather II Bruno Kirby. Jeff Goldblum plays the perpetually stoned music critic.
