He's right, of course. But Isabel wants to try. Jack Wyatt (Will Ferrell) is a close-to-has-been movie actor whose agent has convinced him to star in a remake of Bewitched, a popular tv show from the sixties. Jake agrees to play the tv husband,Darren, who marries a witch, Samantha, as long as Samantha is played by a "nobody" so that his Darren isn't upstaged like the original Darren. Jake discovers Isabel's adorable twitching of her nose while both are shopping in a bookstore. He follows her and convinces her to play the role of Samantha.

Isabel later learns on the set of Samantha's inferior status and feels tricked by Jake. This leads to all sorts of funny mishaps during the taping of the show and in the lives of Isabel and Jake. Isabel has fallen for Jack, and he's falling for her but he doesn't know she's a witch yet.
