DAY FOR NIGHT (La Nuit Américaine) is a movie cowritten and directed by François Truffaut in 1972 and is maybe the masterpiece of the french director. The picture earned three nominations for the Academy Awards.

We are invited to follow the director François -Ferrand- Truffaut and his crew while shooting a movie called "I introduce you Pamela" at the Victorine cinema studios in Nice, France. Thus we have an inside look of the problems of a filmmaker who has to deal with the weather, with the private problems of his actors, with love affairs on the set and with imponderable such as the accidental death of the main character of the movie. Jacqueline Bisset plays the part of Pamela, a british actress who's just married her american psychiatrist, and who will be attracted by the actor Jean-Pierre Léaud.
