Walter and Cathryn Richmond have just arrived in Amsterdam with Melissa, their 10 years old mute daughter. Walter, an executive in pharmaceutics, has to sign an important contract with Rudolph Hartman who wants to sell the formula of a brand new drug to Walter's company.
Lost in the basement of the hotel she stays in with her family, Melissa witnesses the murder of Hartman's lawyer by Bruno Decker, a killer hired by the Dutch businessman. The lawyer had discovered that Hartman had falsified the scientific tests of his new drug. While Hartman tries to convince Richmond to sign the contract in the hotel lobby, Bruno Decker is after Melissa who will have to hide first in the dark streets of Amsterdam and then in the endless hallways of the hotel in order not to be killed by the cold-blooded hitman. When Bruno accidentally dies, Hartman himself will try to kill the little girl.
