This is a story of two teenagers. a boy David Axelrod who falls in love with a girl named Jade Butterfield. Their love then becomes extremely obsessive, especially for David. Then Jade's father tries to stop them both from seeing each other.

David is send to mental hospital for the next five years after accidentally burning down the Butterfield's house. When David is released on parole he gets into trouble again for seeing Jade, David is send to prison, he thought that he wont be able to see Jade again in his life but Jade comes to realize that no one can ever love her the way David loves her then Jade goes to David.

Based on the book by Scott Spencer, Endless Love is the story of a high school student named David Axelrod (Hewitt) who falls in love with a fifteen year old girl named Jade Butterfield (Shields). Their passion for each other is undeniable and all consuming. Jade's parents strongly disapprove of the relationship and attempt to stop the two from seeing each other by banishing David from their home. David loses his head over his inability to see Jade and burns the Butterfield's house down. As a result he is sent away to a mental hospital for the crime.
While away David continues to yearn for Jade and once he gets out he comes looking for her with every intention of them picking up where they left off. However his passion for his first love is too strong and Jade is scared of him upon seeing him again. She realizes that his love for her has turned into an obsession and this time it is she who must leave or else risk destroying them both.
