Nickelodeon Network's cartoon feature presented in movie length is about the incredibly smart Jimmy Neutron (Derryberry) and his friends. Jimmy's idyllic life is threatened by the torment of Cindy Vortex (Lawrence) and her best friend Libby, two girls from school. The kids of the town all sneak out for the grand opening of the newest local amusement park. Only Jimmy is able to determine the malicious motives of the Yokian King Goobot (Stewart) and his counselor Ooblar (Short) and think up a strategy to thwart the would-be abductors of their parents. The kids from Retroville must first rocket into space aboard a fleet of converted amusement park rides to save the adults. They are quickly captured and imprisoned. With a pep-talk coming from Cindy of all people, Jimmy musters the nerve to battle Poultra, a massive chicken-like creature worshipped by the Yokians, formulate a rescue plan for their folks, and elude the Yokian space fleet to return home. The movie may be a little mature for small youngsters, however it can be quirky, humorous, well written, and fast paced with an upbeat soundtrack of 80's rock music. It should delight children 5 and up and register a few laughs with adults as well.
