In the same week, Moose Malloy asks Philip Marlowe to find his girlfriend, Lindsay Marriott Philip to protect him, and Helen Grayle asks him to search for a missing jade necklace. Soon the three affairs become one and only case as Marriott is killed while he was delivering the jade necklace.
