Jesse and his four companions are modern "vampires" driving through the desert at night and sleeping in cheap motels during the day. Mae falls in love with Adrian Pasdar, a young farmer from Oklahoma, and tries to add him to the group. But Pasdar cannot imagine himself killing people each night in order to stay alive. Meanwhile, his father is after him following the bloody path of the group. Tension slowly rises in Jesse's group as Pasdar leaves it in order to come back to his family. Will May follow him and give up eternity for true love ?
