PICKUP ON SOUTH STREET is a movie written and directed by Samuel Fuller in 1953. It was nominated for the Golden Lion of the Venice Film Festival and Thelma Ritter earned a nomination for the 1954 Academy award in the Best Actress in a Supporting role category.

Skip McCoy, a professional pickpocket, steals Candy's wallet which contains a microfilm with state secrets. Candy had been told by her ex-boy-friend, a communist activist, to deliver the film to a smuggler. Unfortunately for Skip, Candy was watched by the F.B.I. as he stole her wallet.
Soon, the F.B.I., the NYC police forces as well as Candy's employers want Skip to reveal where he's hidden the wallet. The young woman and Skip Mc Coy will however fall in love in the middle of the turmoil the pickpocket has unintentionally created.
