Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Pirate Radio

Pirate Radio is about a pop music station broadcasting from a boat in the North Sea in the 1960s. The radio station's owner has lost his best DJ to an American station and has replaced with a popular DJ, The Count. At the beginning of the film, the station's owner's Godson is dropped off on the boat as a punishment for getting into trouble at school. The DJs take him in and want to help him meet a girl because he's never been kissed. The Godson's also curious if his father could be on the boat because he's never met him and he was sent there so suddenly. Offshore, the British government is trying to find a way to make the radio station illegal because they want only classical music to be played on the airwaves even though many citizens listen to the pop station. They succeed in making the station illegal and The Count pretends that he's going to sign off the air and close the station, but they continue broadcasting illegally. Soon after the boat begins to sink and they send out an SOS over the radio in hopes that the government, who is monitoring the now illegal station, will hear it and send rescue boats.

Best part of story, including ending: I loved the characters in this story. They all ban together and have common goals. They love the music they're playing and you can see the passion they have.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was the one where The Count pretends that he's signing off the air for the last time and then they continue broadcasting. Philip Seymour Hoffman did a fantastic job in the scene. You actually believe that he's signing off until he comes back on the air.

Opinion about the main character: What I liked most about The Count was his charisma and passion. Though he wasn't as cool as the DJ he replaced, he cared about the other DJs on the boat and the music he was playing.
