A mother goes to a mysterious town to seek answers for her daughter's strange drawings and dreams. Rose has a daughter Sharon who constantly draws and dreams of a place called Silent Hill. The mother and daughter set out for the town, leaving the father Chris behind. On the way to town, the two get into a car accident, and Rose wakes up from her injury to find that Sharon has disappeared. She is trailed by a cop, Cybil, and the two go into town to look for Sharon. Meanwhile, Chris, follows to look for his wife and child but is left at a dead end when they find the upturned car. In town, Rose is disturbed by strange visions and enters and leaves into a dreamlike state. She sees disturbing images of fire, devastation, and ruin. They encounter a woman Dahlia, who Rose learns has a daughter Alessa that looks exactly like Sharon. Chris meanwhile uncovers the town archives and reads about a fire that killed a lot of people in the town. Rose and Cybil encounter Christabella, who is the leader of the town, and apparently a witch hunter. We find out that Alessa, a bastard child was raped, and burned by the townsfolk. She however survives and is amassing evil to seek her revenge. Rose descends into a chamber and finds the deformed Alessa and her evil counterpart. Cybil is killed by Christabella, since she is accused of being a witch. When Christabella stabs Rose, she unleashes Alessa who kills everybody just as she intended. Rose and Sharon go home, but "home" is another dimension within the confines of the twisted world of Silent Hill which they can never leave.

Best part of story, including ending:
I didn't like it, it was too trippy considering that it's just a story of a crazy murderous cult.
Best scene in story:
Chris researching the history of the town, and we learn in bits and pieces its obsession with witch hunting.
Opinion about the main character:
Rose is courageous for venturing into uncharted creepy territory, as a result she and her daughter get answers but are trapped.
