Splash Movie Review Summary

Actors: Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah, John Candy

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Splash

When he was 12, Allen Bauer was saved from drowning off the coast of Cape Cod by a mermaid. Years later, he returns to the same spot, falls in again, and is saved by the same creature (although he's not all that sure what happened). The mermaid decides to search for him in New York City where he lives and works, and pursues him onto dry land. For Allen, it's love at first sight when he spies Madison, but what will he do if he ever discovers her secret? This is a charming early Ron Howard/Tom Hanks collaboration (1984), and though she doesn't get to do much beyond look fetching (then very ill as unfeeling scientists get to her), Daryl Hannah is lovely.

Splash is a charming love story with a twist. What do you do when you've found the love of your life when that person isn't quite...human? And would you give up everything to be with the one you love? Splash explores these issues with a sweet, comedic effect.
