Ronny is a fast-talking automobile designer who works with his best friend, Nick. Nick has been married for a while to a lovely woman named Geneva, whereas Ronny is planning to propose to his own long-time girlfriend, Beth. While he's out making preparations for his own proposal, Ronny discovers Geneva kissing a muscular lug named Zip. Ronny is obviously distraught, but he lies to Beth about why, which leads her to begin thinking he has resumed gambling again. Ronny plans on telling Nick what he saw, but when he sees Nick pulling his hair out about a new type of environmentally friendly car they're designing together, Ronny decides to delay his revelation until they've closed their business deal. Meanwhile, he confronts Geneva about the affair, which she swears up and down is over, and she promises she'll come clean and make the relationship right again once Nick's new car deal is over. However, when he discovers she was lying and has no intentions of ending her affair with Zip, she blackmails Ronny, telling him she would tell Nick about their hook-ups in their college days, and that he's resuming flirting with her again. In order to avoid Geneva from doing this, Ronny agrees to keep quiet, but he secretly begins following her around, gathering evidence but subsequently missing family events, leading the whole family to now think he's gambling again. When they confront him about his gambling addiction, Ronny must choose whether to continue lying or whether to tell Nick what he's found.

Best part of story, including ending:
Sadly, despite the cast and the decent premise, it's a romantic comedy with very little romance or comedy. It's neutered, from beginning to end.
Best scene in story:
The first time we meet and get to know Zip, who is hilariously played by Channing Tatum, it never gets much better. He's the highlight of the film every time he's on screen.
Opinion about the main character:
Ronny isn't terribly likable, as he lies to his best friend incessantly solely for his own greedy purposes. Vince Vaughn has been more likable in the past.
