Only after the situation gets the attention of everybody around, Ted is rushed to the hospital, and he loses touch with Mary.

Some years later, Ted hasn't forgotten Mary and he hires a private investigator, Pat Healy (Matt Dillon), to find her. Healy finds out that she lives in Miami, but he falls in love with Mary too. To win Mary over, Healy lies, cheats, stalks. Mary's friend and architect, Tucker, exposes him as a fraud. But then Tucker turns out to be less than honest, as he is in actual fact a pizza delivery boy, who also has a crush on Mary. Tucker tries to keep away potential rivals, e.g. Brett Favre, playing himself as a professional football player, by slandering and gossiping.
Ted drives to Florida to find Mary. He manages to win Mary's love, but then his connection to Healy is exposed. Having found out that Tucker also lied about Mary's love interest, Brett Favre, Ted thinks Mary should be with Brett, as he was the only one who did not lie and cheat to win Mary, so he reunites the two of them. But Mary says she thinks she would be happiest with him. The film ends with them kissing.

Best part of story, including ending: It's a romcom with funny situations and lines.

Best scene in story: Where everybody is exposed as a fraud.

Opinion about the main character: His clumsiness.
