10 year old daughter Rachel and teenage son Robbie. His ex-wife, Mary
Ann drops them off for a weekend visit. On the same day TV reporters
tell about an odd lightning storm knocking out all the power in Europe.
Meanwhile Ray's son takes the car out without permission and as Ray goes searching for him he witnesses a strange wall cloud that are known to shoot powerful lightning. The storm manages to disable all electronic devices forcing Robbie to return back home. Ray walks outside to witness the activity occurring outside surrounded by many other curious people within the neighborhood. They all watch the tripod come out from the ground and the machine begins to eliminate humans one by one with its deadly heat rays. In order to protect his family, Ray takes them and runs to find shelter away from being captured. While hiding in Harlan's basement, he witnesses the Tripods spraying a red substance everywhere. Ray and his daughter hide away from the group of aliens who come into the basement exploring to find humans to capture and kill. One of the probes spotted Rachel and in order to protect her Ray hacks the head of with an ax, and in fear Rachel runs outside and is taken by the invaders, and Ray sets out to go after them to save his daughter.
Best part of story, including ending: The story has a very interesting message. While watching the movie it
makes you feel as though you are part of it and wanting to know if the
main characters will make it out alive or not.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene would be when Ray protects his daughter Rachel while
hiding in the basement of Harlan Ogilvy.

Opinion about the main character: What I like about the main character in the movie is how protective he
is of his kids and their safety. He has a strong mind and is able to
find solutions to help save himself and his kids.
