Captain Zoom at first was unwilling to take the task to help save the world by training the young recruits but when the government promised him a paycheck of $500,000 convinces him to take the task.

Actually a “pandimensional anomaly” is headed for Earth, with Zoom's gamma-irradiated evil brother Concussion; the brothers will switch places before the four new Superhero come to destroy the evil brother Concussion. In the past Concussion whose mind was addled by gamma radiation, destroyed an entire team of heroes which also includes Zoom's girlfriend; so Concussion is Zoom's arch nemesis.

Zoom spends almost the entire story training the four young recruits to discover their extraordinary powers. By the help of an out-of-shape former superhero Captain Zoom who has lost his powers, they learn how to make good use of their special skills and become superheroes aim on saving the world from sure destruction as long as they make it home in time for dinner and don't let their families know the truth about them that they are superhero's with super powers.

Courteney Cox plays a nerdy psychoanalyst and she falls over a lot and pleading with kids not to damage her mint-condition comic book collection. The four young superheros include a Pre-teen Tucker Williams (Spencer Breslin), who can inflate parts of his body; Little Cindy Collins (annoying Ryan Newman), who can lift a 2.5-ton weight in either hand; teenager Summer Jones (Kate Mara) has mind powers; and soulful leader Dylan West (Michael Cassidy) can turn invisible at will. Captain Zoom intends to pass on his knowledge to the kids as long as they don't expect too much from him, as he have lost his Flash-like powers.

At the end of the movie Zoom was able to transform kids into superheros and altogether they with the help of their superpowers save the world and defeat Concussion's evil plan of destroying the world.

This movies soundtrack includes several songs from Smash Mouth and cover of Queen and David Bowie's “Under Pressure” and “Ice Ice Baby”.

The story of this movie may resemble other young superhero movie but it does what it set out to do and that is entertaining young children.
