This is an unashamedly sentimental film about a family's love for their pet Labrador, Marley. Adapted from the book written by John Grogan, it is his true account of living with Marley over 14 years. Owen Wilson plays Grogan and Jennifer Aniston plays his wife, Jenny.

The couple relocates from Michigan to Florida, and both work as reporters, with John working on mundane assignments and Jenny's career going well. Rather than starting a family yet, they decide to get a dog. Marley proves to be lovable but disobedient. He has a will of his own, even getting expelled from dog obedience class! John gets a new assignment, writing a column where he can talk about his own life, and his dog's antics inspire him to write a good, hit column. The couple raise two sons, and Marley is still a disruptive force. John gets another job in Philadelphia and they relocate again. The family enjoys life, but Marley becomes ill and inevitably must make that last visit to the vet. No matter how disruptive he's been, Marley has been a treasured family member.
Best part of story, including ending:
It's a heartwarming tale of family life with funny moments too
Opinion about the main character:
If the main character is the dog, he's adorable!
