Dan and Charlie run a sports marketing firm together, and they've been best friends for as long as they can remember. One day, Vicki, who was married to Dan for a very brief period, arrives on Dan's doorstep and tells him he conceived twins with her. She's an activist who is going to jail for her protest work, and so she demands Dan look after his kids. Dan and Charlie are hesitant, as their firm is attempting to close a huge deal for some Japanese clients, but Dan has no choice, so he agrees. He finds out that his apartment complex doesn't allow children, so they all crash at Charlie's place for the time being. Things immediately start going awry for Dan and Charlie in their attempts at being father figures: for example, a camping trip results in them accidentally setting fire to the camp. Before their big meeting with their Japanese clients, the kids mix up Dan and Charlie's medicines, resulting in Dan hallucinating during a golfing trip and Charlie getting his face comically frozen, ruining a date he was on. They finally come close to landing the deal of their dreams, but they have to fly to Tokyo to sign the paperwork, which would result in them missing the kids' birthday. They head to Japan, but once they arrive, they realize that they would rather be good parents than be businessmen. They have to find a way back home before the birthday is over, but they're afraid they won't make it in time to keep the kids' day from being ruined.

Best part of story, including ending:
This is a terrible comedy. Every joke is unfunny, the delivery is broad as can be, and there is nothing relatable about these characters at all.
Best scene in story:
I have no favorite scene, as every scene is terrible. In one scene, Kelly Preston starts crying when her fingers are slammed in a car door, and the song "Big Girls Don't Cry" starts playing. This is the level of comedy this movie deals with.
Opinion about the main character:
Dan is given no personality, and on top of that, he's a sleazebag. Robin Williams isn't given anything to do, and his jokes are all terrible.
