This movie is a 2008 comedy written and directed by Michael Patrick King and based on the "Sex and the City" book and television series by Candace Bushnell. Carrie Bradshaw, a Manhattan-based columnist, is in a successfully in a relationship with Mr. Big. They are now looking at apartments and are about to move in together. Her best friend Charlotte is happily married to a man named Harry and they adopt a Chinese girl named Lily since Charlotte is having trouble conceiving. Her other best friend Miranda has settled down for a life in Brooklyn with her boyfriend Steve and their son Brady. Her other best friend Samantha - a woman who refused for decades to settle down - has moved to Los Angeles to be with her boyfriend Smith.

Carrie and Big find an amazing penthouse and decide to move in. Big eventually ask her to marry her and she says yes. Carrie and her friends start planning Carrie's wedding and the latter is head over heels. On her wedding day, however, Big is unable to get out of the car and cannot go through with the wedding and so leaves Carrie at the church and she is devastated. Having already booked her honeymoon to Mexico, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha decide to take advantage of this vacation and decide to all go together so as to cheer Carrie up. Upon her return from Mexico, Carrie retains the services of an assistant named Louise to help her manage her life and go through her numerous boxes that she has to unpack ever since she moved back to her old apartment. Louise eventually quits and moves away to get married. Charlotte becomes pregnant and her water breaks when running into Big in the street as she is so angry for what he did to Carrie on her wedding day. Carrie goes to the hospital to see Charlotte and her newborn and Harry tells Carrie that Big had been waiting at the hospital before Carrie's arrival to see her and he told Harry that since Carrie had changed her phone number, he had been writing to her - which Carrie denies. Carrie goes back home and tries to find Big's letters, which she can't find. She then calls Louise to ask her whether Big had indeed written to her but she can't reach her. Carrie discovers a secret folder on her computer in which all emails from Big are. Carrie reads a few emails from Big but remain undecided with respect to reconciling with him. She then remembers that it is the last day before the new occupants will move into the penthouse in which Big and her were about to move into, and that she left an expensive pair of Manolo Blahnik pumps in the walk-in closet Big had built for her. She goes to the penthouse and finds Big. They reunite and he apologizes for the harm caused and decide to stay together. They later marry but this time at the City Hall and her best friends show up to surprise her. The film ends with the four women who are drinking their infamous cosmopolitans at a bar in New York to celebrate Samantha's fiftieth birthday, and they then toast to the next fifty years of their lives together.

I am a fan of the Sex and the City book and television series and so had been looking forward to this movie.
Best scene in story:
When Carrie goes to the penthouse to retrieve her pair of pumps she had left there and Big is also in the penthouse. They reunite on the white rug in the walk-in closet and then, upon getting up, Big slipped one of Carrie's blue satin pumps on her foot as if she were Cinderella and as if he were proposing again.
Opinion about the main character:
Like: The everlasting friendships between the four women.
Dislike: The day that he left her standing at the church, the day of their wedding day, this shouldn't have come as a surprise as Big has continuously disappointed Carrie over the years due to his commitment-phonic tendencies.
