Four middle-aged men, struggling with their mundane suburban lives, take a motorcycle ride across country, only to get on the wrong side of a real motorcycle gang. We meet four guys living in an Ohio suburb, struggling with how mundane their lives have become. Doug is a dentist who doesn't have a great relationship with his kid. Bobby is a writer forced to return to the life of a plumber by his controlling wife. Dudley is an incredibly shy computer wizard, perpetually single and dateless. The only one whose life seems pretty put-together is Woody, who is rich and married to a gorgeous model. However, when Woody's wife divorces him and takes all of his money, he tries to get all his friends to road trip west, riding big motorcycles, and reclaim their senses of adventure. Dudley and Bobby are in, but Doug has a panic attack-- which helps convince his wife that he needs a vacation more than ever. Their adventure, filled with wacky misadventures, eventually bring them to a bar where they meet a real motorcycle gang, the Del Fuegos, fronted by Jack, who mocks them for being "posers." They taunt the four friends and steal Dudley's bike. Woody is angry that his friends won't do anything to stand up for him, so he rides back by himself, cuts the Del Fuego's fuel lines on their bikes, and steals Dudley's bike back. Unfortunately, when a cigarette is discarded onto the leaked fuel, the Del Fuegos' bar explodes and they are rightly prepared to hunt down and blame Woody and his friends. Doug, Woody, Bobby, and Dudley end up in a small town in New Mexico, which had been tormented by the Del Fuegos for years, so they become heroes in the eyes of everyone (Dudley even meets a woman that likes him). Yet when the Del Fuegos find them, they must find a way to get out of there alive.

Best part of story, including ending:
There are a couple of funny moments, but it's a painfully slow movie for a comedy, with very broad performances across the board.
Best scene in story:
At the end, it's revealed the real leader of the Del Fuegos is Peter Fonda, famous for his biker movie Easy Rider. It's a clever and funny cameo.
Opinion about the main character:
Doug doesn't bring a lot to the table, and his problems are cliched. Allen is charming enough, but outside of Dudley, it's hard to care for any of these men.
