HUNGER is the sequel to GONE, about the town Sam Temple lives in running low on food and the Gaiaphage (this evil thing) getting angry. The main character of HUNGER is Sam Temple, a 15-year-old running the town of Perdido Beach. Three months ago, the town experienced the disappearance of everyone over 15, however Sam and his evil brother Caine survived.

Some kids break into the town's nuclear plant so they can control the town electricity. After ending all electricity Caine receives a message from the Gaiaphage, telling him to bring a uranium stick and Caine realizes that it may be controlling him. Lana has also been getting the messages from the Gaiaphage, but tries to blow it up. Sadly(ish) she fails. Edilio and Dekka go to try and destroy the mineshaft that it lives in, but Edilio is shot by Lana under the influence of the Gaiaphage. Astrid works out that the Gaiaphage and her friends' powers were caused by a nuclear explosion thirteen years ago. Sam and Duck come to the mine shaft to fight. Caine throws a uranium rod at Drake because he hurt Diana. Duck makes a hole in the ground and falls in. Duck, falling, becomes very, very heavy, and, while dying, drags the Gaiaphage down and kills it.
Best part of story, including ending:
Because of the combination of scifi, fantasy, mutant and horror
Best scene in story:
When Hunter kills Harry with his "microwave hands"
Opinion about the main character:
Sam Temple is good because he is very humble, however I dislike the fact his brother is his nemesis.
