It begins by explaining the benefits of embarking on this career, which include the ability to set one's own hours and to work at home. It then goes into a large amount of detail on how to acquire clients; Bowerman's primary strategy is cold calling and direct mailing. He advocates being in constant contact with potential clients. The book also describes ways to to develop samples for a portfolio, to write personalized resumes, and to maintain contact with difficult clients.
