Karen Armstrong Message Board

Mike Fink posts on 8/28/2005 4:24:40 PM I rescently finished reading Karen Armstrong's book on the history of Islam. Now that I'm in college I no longer have access to it in the library. In her book, Mrs. Armstrong talks about a book called the Four Fold Faith written as kind of a Machiavellian guide to what it takes to be a ruler. Does anyone know the author of this book or if I have the wrong title? I can't seem to find any information on it anywhere. Thanks very much. -Mike Fink
Mary Jackson posts on 8/20/2005 12:00:25 PM After all your studies, and you think Jesus failed in his mission? I have a manuscript proving he established The Kingdom, returned it to God, and fulfilled everthing which all religions are expecting in the future. I am disappointed that you, and everyone else, seems to have missed the historical event. MLJ

William Hohri posts on 8/2/2005 2:41:28 PM I was born in San Francisco in 1927, a few years after my parents moved to America from Japan to serve as Christian missionaries to the community of immigrants from Japan. Both were converted to Protestant Christianity in Japan. Their name for "God" was "Kami-sama," Japanese for their many divine entities. The Roman Catholics in Japan objected to "Kami-sama" because it referred to various "Kami" in the Japanese culture. So the RCs insisted on using "de-e-u-su" for "deus." The Japanese non-Christians made fun of this by pronouncing it as "dai-uso," Japanese for "great lie." I was a faithful church-going Protestant for all of my life until I moved from Chicago to California about 11 years ago. I am a fan of your books. At age 78, I find that I must reread a book at least twice before it sinks in. So I have just finished re-reading "The Spiral Staircase" and was quite captivated. I will also re-read your "History of God." Reading your books is a real pleasure. Take care. William Minoru Hohri
