This entry in the Ma and Pa Kettle series of films finds the Kettles (Main and Kilbride) attempting to send their daughter Rosie (Nelson) to college. Ma is working hard on a fair entry in hopes of winning the cash prize. Pa has bought a race horse, thinking Ma a shoe-in although she has yet to win any money. Ma doesn't win. Will their newly purchased horse come in the money in the race?

This is the fourth in the series of Ma and Pa Kettle films, based on characters from the 1947 film “The Egg and I,” The series was exceedingly popular and reportedly helped the studio pay for many of its “A” list productions
