Without dear ol' Pa, Ma Kettle (Main) and the rest of the clan pay a visit to Sedge (Hunnicutt), her brother-in-law, in the Ozarks. When they arrive, Ma discovers he still has yet to marry Bedelia Baines (Merkel), whom he's been courting for the last 20-odd years or so. This is the eighth film in the series of Ma and Pa Kettle films, based on characters from the 1947 film “The Egg and I.” It just wasn't the same without Kilbride. The series was exceedingly popular throughout its run and reportedly helped the studio pay for many of its “A” list productions.
