The story takes place in 1956 and is a story of a shy and nerdy teen named Jonathan Bellah. His main goal is to win over the beautiful and popular Marilyn McCauley who happens to never look at him twice.

Jonathan is a 17 year old virgin whose quite clumsy both with school and the girls. He meets an extroverted rebel and ladies man named Eugene Harbrough who happens to have his eyes on Bunny Miller.
Bunny is the girlfriend of Kenny the bully in town. Bunny has an interest in Eugene as well and the two happen to get together and now Eugene has to defend himself against Kenny.
Jonathan and Eugene develop a close friendship and he begins to teach Jonathan quite a few lessons in attracting woman and how he can win over Marilyn.
Best part of story, including ending: What I liked about the story is the ability to relate to the character John. The story reminds of the good old days when things were much simpler. I enjoyed watching two opposite characters develop a genuine friendship.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene would be when John takes Gene's advice on making eye contact with Marilyn whenever he can, and while driving he happens to make eye contact with her and drives into a pole.

Opinion about the main character: What I like about the main character is his willingness to not give up on winning over his crush Marilyn. The character was funny and intriguing.
