Actors: William Powell, Myrna Loy, Stella Adler

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Shadow of the Thin Man

Still officially retired as a private detective, Nick Charles (Powell) gets asked to help solve a murder at the local race track. The formula is still in tact for the series. There are a lot of suspects amongst the touts and track regulars, including Stella Adler, best known as an acting coach to a generation of professionals; Barry Nelson, playing a reporter; and Donna Reed as the reporter's love interest. And the long-suffering cop Abrams, still played by Sam Levene, continues to be baffled as to how Charles manages to successfully ferret out the suspect.

This is the fourth installment in the Thin Man film series, which remains much loved for its snappy dialogue and chemistry between Powell and Loy.
