Theo is a snail with a dream: he wants to become the fastest race car driver in the world. He is obsessed with going fast, and he watches all of the races and interviews of the famous Indy 500 champion, Guy Gagne. Unfortunately, being a slow snail, he brings shame to his brother Chet constantly, who wishes Theo would simply accept the fact that he'll never be fast. However, one night, as Theo crawls over a freeway and wishes that he could be fast, fate intervenes as he is sucked into the engine of a super-charged race car passing by, and the nitrous oxide from the engine changes him forever. Theo wakes the next day to find he has super speed, not to many other traits that a car may possess. Theo zips around at lightning speed until he is noticed by Tito, the driver of a taco truck with a penchant for racing snails. Tito is blown away when, at the snail race, Theo bolts past the other snails faster than most cars. Tito enters Theo into actual race car events, making him a laughing stock at first... until Theo starts winning, at which point he becomes an overnight media sensation. The night before the Indy 500, Chet tries to talk Turbo out of getting himself killed, and Gagne reveals himself to be a dirty driver, willing to cheat in order to stop Theo from winning. Theo must ignore the naysayers and keep his focus strong in order to finally achieve his dream.
