Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Behind Closed Doors

Themes

Guys don't want to marry women who shove retarded sisters in their faces. It's no wonder that Grace is single at 32. She constantly shoved Millie in her boyfriends' faces, insisting that Millie would live with any man she married. Sorry, three is not company. Ironically, if Grace had not insisted that Millie live with whoever she married, she would have married someone long ago, and Jack would never have been interested in Grace in the first place.

Some women like being slaves. Grace had many, many opportunities to escape or fight back in the book before she did. But she didn't. She could have called her friends for help many times when she saw them. She could have taken a dinner knife and stabbed Jack. Despite her protests, she was basically a willing slave. I think secretly she enjoyed it.

There's something wrong with a guy who doesn't want sex before marriage. Alarm bells should have gone off in Grace's head when Jack never tried to bone her before marriage. Instead, she just thought of him as a gentle cuckold. If she had had half a brain she should have known something was seriously wrong. Ladies, if a guy wants to marry you and doesn't try to bone you, he's either gay... or wants to lock you in a basement full of bad paintings.  Probably, he's gay.
