Howard Wetmore posts on 4/18/2011 12:21:20 PM Hi Barb Yes I agree most whole heartedly that it is one of the best series ever written. And sadly I must agree that he has written himself into a corner. The only resolution to the problem is failure. But then again, nature doesn't know the difference between right and wrong nor does it care.

Jim Blume posts on 4/18/2011 11:34:10 AM Hey There: Welcome to the board. Honestly, I don't know that he'll ever get it done. It's been almost 18 years since he's published a book in the series. That's a long time. You can google around and see posts from DG saying he was hoping to finish the book by the end of this year/early next year from 2003 forward. If you check out his site (I can't post a link, but it's the authors last name dot com), you'll see a link to the Chtorr FAQ. There, he asks himself this very question. The answer (non answer) is actually pretty illuminating. If that's what's running through his head, I understand why it's not done yet. Anyway, I'm still hopeful, but not holding my breath. If I were you, I'd just bookmark this site and DG's home site. Check in every few months and hope for the best. Don't hold your breath though. I read the first book (first two actually) in 1985.
Barbara Waight posts on 4/15/2011 12:07:26 AM Will the war Against The Chtorr Series ever be finished? They are one of the best series of books I have ever read and I have been waiting for the series to be finished for years and years. I believe David Gerrold doesn't know how to end the story.
Jim Blume posts on 2/10/2011 3:22:46 PM Well, something is better than nothing. And him working on his website at least proves he's alive. As for the publication date, well, whatever. It's not like we haven't heard this before (AT LEAST 4 or 5 times). I hope to have the book finished before the end of the year. I'm not even going to cross my fingers or anything. I'll believe it when I see a publication date that is < 3 months (which will mean FOR SURE that a manuscript is sitting on an editor's desk somewhere). Until, then, I'll just watch with interest.
Steve posts on 2/7/2011 6:45:34 AM I know we have seen these types of updates before, and perhaps I am a fool, but I, for one, think he really means it this time when he says the fifth book is almost complete. I just wonder if the books will hold my attention like they did some 15 years ago when I last read them. I was in college then, and I found them to be quite thought provoking during a time when I was still trying to determine my own identity...perhaps that is why I found Jim so fascinating as a character. Of course I will reread all the books once the magical release of the 5th book occurs, but I just hope all this waiting does not leave me severely disappointed, wondering why I cared in the first place.
Spooky Mizu posts on 2/6/2011 6:24:15 PM Gerrold has been updating his website lately. Tucked in the FAQ are some notes suggesting a 2011 release. He is happy to know that people are still interested in the Chtorr books, but also wants to make sure to get it right. It's not just about getting it done. This really is his opus! I don't mind waiting. :-)
dwaine posts on 2/6/2011 6:08:41 PM Check David's website!! He has actually updated it and made several announcements regarding MFM. Hallelujah. At last, the light dawns...
Rick posts on 1/23/2011 7:00:16 PM I see you can pre-order book 5 (Jul 2011) on Amazon. Does this mean there is a confirmed release date?
