I think a whole new book could be written about Durc and is life with the clan. Because of his difference, his mating with Ura, also different, their children, who could be almost purely clan or almost purely Others, enough could be written for another whole book. PLEASE!

Are there any books in the works? I thought I heard that that was the end. I seemed to be there were so many loose ends. Unless Ms. Auel meant it that way? For us to make our own conclusions? Is she open for ideas I mean I'm no author but, left to my own imagination I could see so many things happening. Thank You

I just started reading the COTCB books again. I really loved the series ever since Daryl Hanna starred as Ayla in the movie. Anyway I wondered what happened to Durc he was my main concern after I heard the next book was out. So I went online to find out if there was another book. Wow! I had no idea so many people had such a problem with the ending of the book. Yes I must admit that it was lackluster compared to the others. I hated to read all those kind of mean girl/boy comments though, I had to stop reading them because I hope this isn't hurting her feelings. Come on I still love those books! Please Jean, write another sequel paleeeeeze? Thank You.

Could someone please tell me if any of the characters from the clan' ie Broud oruba etc are mentioned again. I would like to know what is happening with them as well as Ayla in the consequent books

After reading the reviews on book 6, I'm afraid I have to agree. However, I am SO looking forward to the continuation of Ayla and your wonderful flow of what life could possibly have been like.
However, Durc has 'the others' knowledge as well as 'Clan' and he HAS to search for his mother, Echobar and Brukevan need to somehow get involved with The Clan, Jonayla trains for greater things and I certainly hope Marona gets hers!!! Zolena is aging, so where does Ayla come in? There had to be so many other things that came into being in that time frame, I, for one, would love to hear about. As some of the animals were becoming less and less, what other animals might have evolved in their places. Love to hear more of the Spirit World and the Plant World, for that matter. Thank you Ms. Auel for your wonderful interpretations of early life. Somehow, I feel we all have ancient knowledge that we, also, were there.

Micheal, You might find the amateur follow-on stories interesting that have been posted on fanfiction. Mine, Ayla: The Saga Continues, has had several positive reviews.

Respectfully, I think that several of the posts that precede this one have failed to make clear just how bad the 6th bok was. It was endlessly and infuriatingly boring and repetitious. Never has a book so badly needed an editor. I absolutely NEVER would have finished it if it weren't for the fact that I had read (and enjoyed) the first five, and I wanted to know how the story ended. What continues to irritate me, though, besides the time I wasted, is the fact that Ms. Auel must actually believe that the overly detailed and monotonous cave descriptions, formal introductions, and Mother's Song recitations in this book made for good reading. What I really want is for her to acknowledge that she dropped the ball on this one...without it, I'm not going to bother with any additional installments in the series.

Ayla people are the Sungaya; she almost recognized them in the "Mammoth Hunters".

In each of my books, in the front, there is a map of the area that is spoken about in the book. I have even laid them side by side to get a "total" picture. Then get a map of today. Because of the ice age, the shorelines are a bit different, but the Danube is easy to follow.

Is there a general idealized map of the geography/area traveled in the 6 books someone could send out?
