Anna posts on 5/23/2008 9:06:05 PM I would honestly like to see Cassie get married to Moe!! Or at least court him for a while to see how that goes! But, by judging the way she acted around him at the train station made me believe that she was all in for Solomon. I mean he seems like a great guy and all, but I love Moe. We are just about finished reading Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry in class. Well, I finished it, read Let The Circle be Unbroken, and also read The Road to Memphis before we even were finished with it in class! I for one, would ABSOLUTLY LOVE to read the sequel to The Road to Memphis!!! So Ms. Taylor, you have A LOT of fans who would be estatic to have a perfect end to the Logan family saga!!!!
Jaycie posts on 5/10/2008 2:26:43 PM Pat, I think that Roll of Thunder would be okay to have your child read. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that's "bad" in it would be the n-word. But that is in there to show what the South was like back then. It's in there to prove a point. That's all I can think of right now.
Chris Crowe posts on 5/9/2008 7:17:31 AM For more information about Mildred D Taylor, take a look at my biography of her: PRESENTING MILDRED D TAYLOR. My newest book is for teachers: TEACHING THE SELECTED WORKS OF MILDRED D TAYLOR. There's a free online chapter at Heinemann's website that discusses teaching her shorter books.

Tracy posts on 5/8/2008 8:23:51 PM The book Roll of Thunder is an awesome read. I think every kid should read it.
Pat posts on 5/7/2008 4:33:56 PM My child came home today from school with a permission slip to read a book that has some pretty strong language in it. The book Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is offered as an alternative. I just want to check in to find out if there is any language in that book that may be offensive. (Cuss words, the Lord's name in vain, etc.) Thank you. Pat

Thanks, Mildred M. Taylor PS When I was a kid, I remember reading your book never dreaming that my last name would one day be Taylor too (smile)
Alveita Bates posts on 4/13/2008 11:16:55 PM Hi Mildred Taylor I am doing an Author study on you and I wanted to know what's your hobbies and what do you enjoy doing in your spare time.
Jaycie posts on 4/10/2008 10:48:45 PM Ruth, "The Well" is about David/Papa and takes place in about 1910. "Mississippi Bridge" takes place in about 1932. "The Gold Cadillac" isn't actually part of the Logan series but it takes place, I think, in the 1950's. I haven't read that one in a while. "The Friendship" takes place in about 1930-33. "Song of the Trees" is the first book and I think that it takes place in 1930 or around there close.
