A man takes a class to build his self-confidence, only to have his teacher try to steal the girl of his dreams. Roger may be in law enforcement (he gives parking tickets), but he doesn't have any power. He is a whimpering mess, lacking any self-esteem whatsoever. One day, his friend Ian recommends to him a class in which a legendary "Dr. P" teaches his students confidence, sometimes using extreme methods. Roger signs up, figuring he has nothing to lose, and he begins right away being subjected to the constant humiliations that Dr. P and his assistant, Lesher, inflict upon him. For example, they go on a paintball outing, only to have Dr. P and Lesher shoot the students at close range. The advice that they are given is absolutely terrible-- Dr. P recommends they go fight with people, and that when on a date, they never compliment a woman for any reason. Still, his anger at the class results in instilling in Roger a sense of self-worth, and he actually turns some of the lessons into positives, getting a date with the hot student in his apartment building, Amanda. However, Dr. P doesn't like how quickly Roger has progressed, and he makes up a lie about being a widower and a surgeon so that Amanda will date him instead. This begins an all-out brawl between the two, starting with Roger smashing balls into Dr. P during a tennis match in front of Amanda, escalating to Dr. P framing Roger for stalking Amanda, and finally resulting in Dr. P getting Roger fired as a meter reader. After consulting with a former student of Dr. P's, Roger gathers the evidence he needs to prove to Amanda that Dr. P is a fraud. As Dr. P prepares to take her to Miami, Roger gets to the plane just in the nick of time, revealing to Amanda the truth about the bad doctor. Amanda dumps Dr. P and apologizes to Roger, taking him up on his offer to go on a date. At the end, Dr. P catches up later with Roger, offering him a diploma for the class, and asking him to help in future classes-- an offer Roger flatly rejects.

Best part of story, including ending:
This is a mean-spirited film, in which the only jokes come at the expense of the characters-- in addition, the girl is not great, so there's no romance between either couple in this love triangle.
Best scene in story:
Dr. P has Roger arrested by fake cops, who gleefully pepper spray him in an elevator, only to realize shortly that they would infect their own eyes with the pepper spray as well.
Opinion about the main character:
Roger is a wimp, and while he gets likable for a minute, there's no reason why he wouldn't just tell Amanda who Dr. P is right away, which makes him unlikable ultimately.
