John Sandford Message Board

Gretchen posts on 7/10/2005 5:09:55 PM Mr. Sandford, I have enjoyed reading the John Sandford books. However, could you lighten up on using God's name along with the name of his son Jesus in such a disrespectful manner and so frequently? Thank you. PS I just noticed that this website asks we not use foul language! Hmmm.
Sarah Allen posts on 7/1/2005 4:59:06 PM I'm reading my way through this series and delighting in most of the books. This one, Easy Prey, seems to have illuded the proof readers: page 15 ..." and they'd drove together.." They HAD DROVE?? Page 16: "...collecting garage and old summer magazines..." Surely "garage" was meant to be GARBAGE. And then there is reference to the fashion industry on page 60 referred to as "courtiers" when I think the word is COUTERIER. Spell check is no substiture for proof readers.
Denise Holman posts on 7/1/2005 2:15:24 PM Dear John, I fell in love with the "Prey" series about 3 years ago and I am hooked. I'm waiting for the series or at least a movies featuring "Lucas Davenport" but couldn't decide who would be perfect for the lead role. Well gues what? The other day I happened to turn the channel on the T.V. and right before my eyes I discovered your "Lucas". He is the star of the "Pretender" and his role name is Jarod. I don't know the actors real name but believe me he would be perfect for Lucas. He's handsome and daring and believe me if you just watch a couple of the "Pretender" series you will be convinced also the he is the right man for the role. Please say that at least a "Prey" movie or series is coming out soon. "Lucas Davenport" needs to come to life on screen. I hope to hear a response soon. LOVE YOUR BOOKS Denise

Tommy posts on 6/30/2005 10:49:54 AM Marge - you can go to www.johnsandford.org and at the very top of the website is a link to click on that will give you the order of prey novels.
Karen posts on 6/29/2005 5:29:14 PM Marge - Go to the front of any of the Prey books for the list of other books written by the author. It starts with Rules of Prey and goes from there. They are listed in order of release. I've done this too, including, after I finished the Prey novels, the Kidd novels as well. My husband gave me the Kidd novels for Christmas last year. Have fun.
Marge Dill posts on 6/28/2005 9:02:15 AM Does anyone have a list of the Prey series in the order they were written? I want to start at the beginning and read them in order. Thanks !!!!!!!!!!
Dennis McCargar posts on 6/15/2005 1:20:22 PM Unlike some respondents, I was very pleased with the last installment of the Prey series. There were several terrific touches in that novel: the so-right phone calls and the scene with Weather while Lucas is recovering from surgery, the rock song list that invades Lucas's thoughts and those of his co-workers, the clown who finds the list and takes it to his therapy session, and simply providing the list at the end of the book. These are just right touches that we have come to expect from Mr Sandford, and he is still delivering. I'm not an ex-cop, but I am an ex-correctional librarian, and I'd say that the battle scene at the end is just a bit difficult to swallow, predicated as it is on the staffer bringing in the guns. It would not happen in a California prison, in a Minnesota mental ward, I can't say, but, the point is, it doesn't matter. We have here a competent and a prolific writer who entertains us quite well, and nit-picking his storyline is totally unwarranted. Broken Prey works, so leave it alone...if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.
