Armor, though it's clunky and slows you down, makes sense when it protects you from attack. But as we've seen, armor doesn't stop blasters, so what's the point in wearing them? In fact, armor doesn't even stop Ewok arrows!
Since stormtrooper armor isn't functional, do you think it's a fashion statement? That the Emperor liked his soldiers to be making clunking sounds when they walked around in matching white? What do you think about that?

I think that storm trouper armour is not equipped to sustain blaster fire as the empire did not need storm troupers on the ground that much, thats why they had those large droid armada's and other cost-effective trinkets, as a storm trouper you probably would spend your days guarding planet side assets in urban area's (houses/flats) and of course on the Capital ships in the movies we can see some blaster fire shooting but its not like they are going to just walk in and shoot up the room with there blaser rifles , why would you if you have an almost unlimited line of battle droids that can do that for you.
instead you will hold ground and advance forward from a covered possition if the enemy is close enough to engage you with blunt objects (which is not so hard when your inside the corridors of a ship) they will quite possibly draw out a melee weapon of some sort and attack you, your armour would be able to hold off the hits while you kick point and shoot.
that's my view on the matter, don't think stormie armour is completely useless but I would rather pack myself up in IRG and stroll behind the emperor.

Anyone up for another Star Wars movie? I don't think George Lucas is seriously considering making another film, but it would be a blast. Early guesses are that a new movie would center on Han & Leia's children, and be based on the "Dark Jedi" line of stories. Just some food for thought. Have a good day, everyone!

I thnik the clone armour was better because it was lit and easyer to move around in.But the storm trooper armour is good because it has more tools ot use and is more intimidateing to it enmys.

you people foget modern kevlar wont stop a arrow and is only effective agianst small arms fire the same is with troopr=er armor wich wont protect agianst military grade weapons and is designed to stop super hot "cold" plasma no aroows or even modern bullets

if i notice, in a new hope leia has to hit the stormtrooper dead in the cheast with her blaster to be effective, the armor doesn't protect against the military grade blasters the rebels have, but it does protect against civilan weapons and huniting blasters. also, the empire designs flaws into their eciupment to better motivate their soldiers, cruel, but that's the empire for you. also, in the new hope, you will notice that vader says the line: "several fighters have broken off from the main group." the movie focuses on the important part of the battle, where the minority of the fighters are, the rest of the rebellion is engaging the death star in other areas to disorent them and distract them from the important part, that's why the aid had to analyze the attack to discover the danger of what they where actually doing. also, the lack of shields and hyperdrive on ties make them more manoverable.

I personally hate starwars and think that it would be a much better world if it never existed. Do you people realize that you are the biggest losers on the planet and that even Meseret is pulling your leg without you realizing... it's all a con! People are getting their own amusement out of ridiculing you. I would just like to say that you should get a life and that Star Wars is not even real so get over it! It sucks... own up to that realization! Maybe you could even be able to get a date if you would just listen to my advice. You need to have your own unique personality... i don't think "star wars" is one! Stop being such geeks... it really is quite awful!

Take it easy, Porthos, no need to get upset, we're all friends here. However, I guess I'm just kind of dumb because I couldn't put two and two together. also, I don't believe Lucas ever intended on making the last three movies to begin with, so he had to do a lot of patch work plotting. At least I think so. Bang, my all time favorite is Jaws. I've seen it at least twenty times. I guess it was the first movie I ever saw that sparked my imagination. Take care.

Maybe you should actually see all three movies before you start asking questions. At the end of Ep 3 Captain Antilles clearly ordered his tech crew to COMPLETELY WIPE THREEPIO'S MEMORY. Owen makes a point of it to Luke to wipe the droids memories as well. Even if you never saw Ep 3 there was enough for everyone to put two and two together and guess Threepio had a memory wipe at some point. Now why didnt Owen recognize Threepio? Because all Protocol droids tend to act the same. That and its been 20 years and droids are as cheap and easy to replace as car tires, so who really gets attatched enough to a droid to really learn its name by heart? They probably went through a dozen of them over Luke's life, Tattooines climate isnt that good for droids. Wouldnt suprise me if Owen drank a lot either.
