Martina Cole Message Board

LikeWater posts on 11/7/2006 12:15:49 PM I was really psyched about reading the Close (its due end of Nov here in Canada) - however, after reading some of the posts I'm not sure I want to go to the expense of getting it. Her earlier stuff was well wicked - Two Women my absolute fave - Hopefully she'll get back on track for her next one.
David posts on 11/6/2006 7:53:47 PM I have to agree with Jenny' Martina's books would seem to be tailing off, at a loose end recently for a read I re-read Dangerous Lady and realised that the last couple of books have been no where near as good. I am now 1/2 way through Close and starting to struggle with it unlike Dangerous Lady which allthough the second time around i could not put down in fact i finshed it at 2AM one morning because i couldnt put it down.
Sam posts on 11/6/2006 4:26:51 PM I am on page 180 and so far I think it is good. Although I have a feeling how the ending is going to be and what Lance is going to have done

Jenny posts on 11/5/2006 3:23:11 PM I havent read Close yet cos I always get the new one for Xmas but I am not too bothered about having to wait. Her last couple of books havent had the edge that her other books have. Martina...go back and read Two Women again and remember what it was that made you a brilliant author with a massive fanbase! I know she doesnt come here and wont see that before someone points it out to me, but it would be great if she did and took note!
brenda posts on 11/5/2006 3:13:39 PM i have read all martinas books all are great.i start and i carnt put them down.i couldnt wait to read close and i wasnt disapointed
Diane posts on 11/5/2006 10:22:38 AM Did not get past page fifty, what a lad of boring drivel. Dont buy it there are better writers out there. Mo hadder Tess Geritson, the best though is Sheila Quigley.
Vicky posts on 11/2/2006 8:51:07 AM Finished Close on Sunday. I was so disappointed!! I've read all Martina's books several times and really loved them all, but this book was just so repetitve and so obvious. there is a lack of plot and the characters lack depth. Where is the relation you feel towards the characters in Two Women or The Jump? Please make your next one a cracker Martina, this one has really let you down!!
Angie posts on 11/1/2006 7:26:59 PM For years I have been ignoring Martina Cole books and then was given Dangerous Lady at Christmas, a couple of pages in I was well hooked....read Maura's Game - great follow up on the characters. The Know...a real eye opener. Now reading The Graft...a bit slow going compared to the others but sticking with it and I have another 4 titles waiting to be read. I live in the East End and can identify with the many references Martina makes in her books.
Sam posts on 10/25/2006 3:56:12 PM Rory , I have only read the first 100 pages but so far I think it is okay
rory moore posts on 10/25/2006 10:02:09 AM what do you think of her new novel? very poor maybe she has lost the plot or lack of plot!
