Feather the Stone posts on 8/22/2007 2:51:07 PM Hm, this may not be the best place for a sincere question, but I've been wondering if the (former) CSA could de-freedomize like OTL Germany de-nazified, to the point of becoming a progressive, human-rights-abiding region. Does their anti-Negro hate run so deep that they would never -- unlike the Germans -- come to the point of acknowledging their sins and asking for forgiveness? Perhaps putting a Negro Holocaust Memorial in Richmond? Is the feeling so deep that nothing could ever change it? (Maybe economic progress?)
Makkabee posts on 8/22/2007 1:03:07 PM Maybe I'm just disguised as Makkabee so I can sail to Rhodesia and plot my eventual triumphant return. Did you ever think of that? Well? Did you?
Jack posts on 8/22/2007 12:09:57 PM You're not Featherston, you're Makkabee. Thought you could fool us, did you.

Makkabee posts on 8/22/2007 11:37:19 AM I'm Jake Featherston and I'm here to tell you the truth. And the truth is, we may be down now but as long as I'm alive we're not out! We will yet rise up and strike blows that will astonish the world, and the arrogant Yankees will find they've been dictating to their mast-- what? What do you mean I'm dead? Some smoke shot me in Georgia! That TRAITOR! You see, I knew they were gonna do that some day and that's why I had to reduce their populations, to try and stop it. Well, since I am the state, if I'm gone I guess the CSA is too, and we deserved to lose for not backing me 110%. Thank you, and good night.
An Avid Fan posts on 8/22/2007 10:48:55 AM No, Gizzi, don't go! I know I don't get around here very often, but when I do it's such a comfort to think there's a sane person with whom I can discuss the upcoming resolution of the obvious loose ends HT left open. Please don't leave me with these weirdos! As for the Atlantis book, I've looked it up and while it may seem like a bit of a stretch I can't rule out the possibility that maybe it really is a TL-191 book after all. It might be set far in the future of the timeline.
John Gizzi posts on 8/22/2007 10:05:27 AM Jack, again, I did not write the last post with name nor any with any invective in on it. And from now on, please disregard anything with my name as real because I'm not posting anymore. And I never heard of the Atlantis books at all.
Jack posts on 8/22/2007 2:10:24 AM Gizzi, stop talking to yourself. It's annoying. We've come to expect that from Nut-Ball, but you're not crazy like he is. Though apparently you are crazy enough to think Opening Atlantis is a TL-191 novel. I'm not surprised. It's a new trilogy that HT is starting based on a few short stories he's done. He's doing this because he has a lot of free time on his hands now that he's not working on TL-191 anymore. I'm looking forward to the Atlantis books but I'm not going to look for coded references to the late Strome Thurmonde disguised as a hobo disguised as the governor of Atlantis in there. I'd suggest you don't either, just enjoy them for their own sakes. Congresswoman, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. I did enjoy your series while it lasted though I found the SA books to be something of a step down from GW and AE. However, the end of IatD, and the end of the series, saw a bit of a rebound, and I thought your last scene provided good closure to the whole story. Now you've heard it from a Congresswoman, Gizzi. Are you convinced?
Flora Hamburger posts on 8/21/2007 12:11:13 PM Good evening. My name is Flora Hamburger and I have the privilege to be the Socialist Representative from New York City's Lower East Side. Recently Dr Turtledove did me the honor of asking me to address his loyal fans on the occasion of the publication of the final book in the Southern Victory series. Since 1997, the characters of the TL-191 universe have sought to entertain a core of dedicated, informed, and imaginative readers with our epic saga of a lifetime of balkanization and division on the North American continent. It's been our pleasure for the past eleven years to bring you a story that was both entertaining and thought provoking. We do hope you enjoyed it. From all of us in the TL-191 universe, thank you for reading, and all the best in your future endeavors. Good night.
John Gizzi posts on 8/21/2007 9:54:38 AM I did not write the last post, and have no idea at all where this guy using my name is coming from. I know nothing about a book in few months and I would not call people names, even when they grow rude and want to talk about just what they want. Quite frankly, I prefer the page in which readers write their own reviews for posting.
John Gizzi posts on 8/21/2007 2:17:45 AM Well it seems that I've been proven right once again, as I was when I said HT would surprise us by not having Jake use drugs. If you go to Turtledove's official site you will see that he has released plans for a book called ''Opening Atlantis'' due out in December. The book clearly seems to be a continuation of the Southern Victory series. It details a hidden secret continent where a new American society emerges -- a new society established by the sergeant turned hobo Potter met in the park in the penultimate scene of IatD, no doubt! And it's going to be released not late next summer but in just a few months. I guess with all the doubt swirling around his interest in continuing the series, Turtledove felt he'd better move quickly. I have yet again been proven right over you ignorant cretins, but being much more gentlemanly than you I shall endeavor not to gloat.
