Lori Wick Message Board

Trish posts on 6/12/2014 5:58:55 PM I quit reading Lori's books years ago. However, I picked up Every Storm and began reading it recently. It is a wonderful story line, however, as she forewarns in the preface, there are glaring inaccuracies concerning the culture of the times. Much of the terminology regarding the house and the girl's choice of free-time activities belong to a more modern time. I still recommend it, except... I have been researching Lori's participation in the child abuse scandal involving her church. I am disturbed by how much money she and her husband have given to a church that is clearly not ministry-minded. I am disturbed by the the things she said in various case reports concerning children and punishment, and I am at a loss as to why people will come on here and defend her. I wonder how many here, who are defending Lori, are members of her church. Very sad. I will no longer read her books.
Dennis posts on 5/28/2014 1:37:28 PM Oh, the hypocrisy of the American legal system. It allows abortionists to cut up little babies and throw them out in the trash. Yet a loving parent spanks her kid on the butt to get obedience and the parent is threatened with jail. Lori, I haven't read one of your books because I usually don't read fiction, but I am going to get one to read.
kac posts on 2/10/2014 8:09:52 PM I still debate whether I would ever purchase another book written by Lori Wick. No, she wasn't charged with abuse, however, she knew it was going on and financially supported the church responsible for the abuse. I love her books, but having been abused myself, I am just not certain I could ever purchase another of her books, which is saying a lot. I own all of her titles!

Sacha Mariano posts on 12/21/2013 10:51:10 PM Dear Lori, I love the English Garden series and all the great characters you created. My question is why did you leave Henry Steel single? He was one of my favorite characters and I would have loved to see him find someone to love and love back.
Curious2 posts on 12/16/2013 1:52:07 PM If it has affected her faith, hopefully it has made her stronger in Christ. I would love it if she wrote more books but I guess time will tell and God may have other plans for her.
It would be nice posts on 12/12/2013 7:06:13 PM Lori was not charged. It would be nice if she would let us know through her publisher whether or not she is actively writing, or plans to. How has this affected her life? What has this done to her faith? Has it changed the way her church ministers?
Curious2 posts on 12/6/2013 3:11:44 PM I really would like to know what has happened to Lori, has she been a) proven innocent, or b) forgiven?
Curious posts on 9/25/2013 6:37:29 PM What has happened with this situation? There has been no media coverage of it since the sentencing of Lori's pastor. What is happening with the couples who were charged? Lori's son? Did the pastor appeal, as he claimed he was going to?
Ann posts on 3/7/2013 9:00:22 PM I absolutely love Lori Wick books! She is definitely my favorite author, and she's so inspiring.
Kay posts on 10/9/2012 1:42:14 AM This is so sad. To whom much is given, much is required. Could anyone truly believe that the same Christ who said to let the little children come to him could possibly condone child abuse. One month old? That's sick, and Ms Wick should hang her head in shame for her part in this. God condemned human sacrifice, which is what beating a baby amounts to.
